There's One Thing AI Isn't. It's Not You - The Founder
There seems to be a divide in eCommerce business right now.
On one side, you've got people worried that AI is about to replace everyone. On the other, you've got people refusing to touch it because they think using AI somehow makes their work less authentic.
As with most things, the truth sits somewhere in the middle.
At Navigate the Noise, we're love tech and are happily early adopters of AI. We use it ourselves to deliver results for our clients. And we help our clients use it and deploy it in their business.
We see every day how, if you a savvy about how you deploy it - it can save time, increase output, and remove some of the repetitive tasks that eat away at your week.
But there's one thing AI isn't. It's not you - the Founder.
And that's important because, whether you realise it or not, your business is often built around something AI simply cannot replicate: your unique experience, your personal energy, your perspective, and the way you think.
Can AI create content faster than humans?
Absolutely. In fact, that's the whole point.
AI can write blog outlines, draft social media posts, summarise meetings, generate email campaigns, suggest content ideas, and help you produce far more than you could manually.
If you're still staring at a blank screen for an hour trying to write an Instagram caption, you're probably not making the best use of the tools available.
AI is incredibly good at helping us get started.
The problem comes when people assume that because AI can create content, and sounds quite sensible in the answers it generates, that it can create immediate business success.
Not necessarily...
Why do so many AI-generated posts sound the same?
Because AI works from patterns.
It learns from huge amounts of existing information and predicts what comes next.
That's incredibly powerful.
But it also means that if everyone is using the same prompts, asking the same questions, and publishing the same outputs, everything starts to sound remarkably similar.
We've all seen it.
LinkedIn posts that read like they've been copied and pasted from the same template.
Blogs filled with generic advice.
Social media content that's technically correct but somehow says absolutely nothing.
The issue isn't the technology.
The issue is that too many people are outsourcing their thinking as well as their writing.
What is it that founders bring that AI can't?
Brand vision, personal energy and deep experience that makes sure your business thrives. Every single time.
As founders, we've spent years building our businesses. We've worked with clients. We've made mistakes. We've tested ideas. We've seen things succeed and fail.
That experience creates judgement. Commerical understanding applied in the real world.
When a client asks a question, we're not simply providing information. We're applying years of context, insight, and real-world understanding.
AI doesn't have that. It can give answers. But it doesn't have lived experience.
It doesn't know what happened when that strategy failed three years ago. It doesn't know why a certain approach worked for one client and completely flopped for another.
Those insights come from us.
Does using AI make your content less authentic?
Not necessarily. In fact, we'd argue the opposite. Used properly, AI can give founders more time to be authentic.
Instead of spending hours formatting documents or staring at a blinking cursor, you can spend more time talking to clients, refining ideas, and sharing your expertise.
The authenticity doesn't come from physically typing every word yourself.
It comes from whether the ideas are genuinely yours. Think of AI as an assistant rather than a replacement, it's helping you communicate. It's not replacing the thinking behind what you're communicating.
Do people still buy from people?
Yes - Because trust matters. Most customers aren't simply buying a product. They're buying confidence, reassurance and your ability to solve a problem.
When somebody buys your beauty product formula, or hires a consultant, coach, or agency, they aren't choosing a ChatGPT output.
They're choosing the person behind it, the expertise and the understanding that sits behind every recommendation.
That's why founder-led content remains so powerful. People want to know how you think. They want your opinions. They want your experiences. They want your perspective on what's happening in your industry.
And none of that can be generated automatically.
Should founders be using AI?
Without question Yes. Refusing to use AI today is a bit like refusing to use email twenty years ago. The technology isn't going away - the businesses that learn to use it effectively will almost certainly gain an advantage.
The key is understanding what AI should do and what it shouldn't do.
Let AI handle the heavy lifting, let it help with research, first drafts, brainstorming, repurposing content, and administrative tasks. But don't hand over your expertise. Don't outsource your opinions. Don't become a "lazy CEO" and outsource your commercial thinking.
Because that's the part your customers are actually paying for.
What does the future look like?
I believe the most successful founders won't be the ones who avoid AI.
Nor will they be the ones who blindly rely on it.
The winners will be the people who combine technology with human expertise.
They'll use AI to move faster. To create more. To test ideas quickly. To communicate more consistently. But they'll still be at the centre of the business. Their voice. Their knowledge. Their judgement. Their relationships.
Those things become even more valuable in a world where anyone can generate content at the click of a button.
Mindset Shift: AI Is Here to Supercharge You, Not Replace You
AI can scale content. It can scale processes. It can scale productivity. What it can't replicate is you - the Founder.
It can't replicate your life experience.
It can't copy your instincts.
It can't build the relationships you've spent years creating.
And it certainly can't replace the unique perspective that makes your business different from everyone else's.
At Navigate the Noise, we see AI as one of the most exciting business tools we've ever had access to. Not because it replaces founders, but because it amplifies them.
The businesses that thrive over the next few years won't be the ones choosing between AI and human expertise. They'll be the ones combining both.
Use AI to enhance your team work.
Use AI to create original content faster.
Use AI to free up time.
But never forget that the real value in your business isn't the content.
It's you - the person behind it.
